Oil painting allows me to use so many inventive techniques. This series called The Living Wall is very complex multi-layered oil painting. Much of the techniques are self taught. This image is one of my favorite combinations of motifs: hedges and flowered bushes. The lighting was strong and almost directly overhead. It made for strong summer colors and shadows. Great color and tonal contrasts.
