Of the whole series, this is my favorite piece. The whole image is from my imagination. In fact the tree was born in the moment and not from previous sketches. Its a mystery tree and I have no idea what kind of tree it is.....it doesn't matter. What matters is that it is unique and still belongs in the landscape. Like ourselves....unique and still belonging here.
Its also what I call a "once a decade" painting in that it is so good, I can't let it go just yet.
